Dell Starts Free Recycling in U.S.

Round Rock, Texas -- Dell now offers it's customers free electronics recycling. Owners of Dell-branded products can get free at-home pickup for their old devices and no new purchase is required to participate. Select non-Dell branded equipment can also be recycled for free with the purchase of a new system.

Goodwill, Dell Launch Citywide Computer-Recycling Program

Water Purifier to Allow Recycling

PA Governor Rendell Announces $20 Million in Recycling Grants
May 19, 2006 - Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Harrisburg -- 116 municipalities have been awarded grants to support recycling efforts. The state's recycling and reuse industry already employees over 81,000 people and generates $18.4 in annual sales. Additionally, by reprocessing waste, almost $260 million of disposal costs were avoided and $113 million was generated in new product sales.

Calgary Opens 'E-Cycling' Depot

Power Plant Waste Eyed for Green Building

Columbia, Mo. -- Henry Liu, a retired professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia, may have found a use for the millions of tons of fly ash produced every year by coal-burning power plants. Under high pressure, fly ash can be formed into bricks that can be used for construction.

In Mich., It's Not Easy to Be Green

New Boston -- The Michigan Recycling Partnership issued a report criticizing the state's recycling programs. In 2004, the national recycling rate was 27 percent, whereas Michigan's was 20 percent. Michigan spent $200,000 on recycling-related programs while neighboring Wisconsin spent $29 million. The number of residents offered curbside service decreased to 27 percent. In Detroit, curbside recycling service is illegal so enough waste is available for the nearby trash incinerator. More national statistics are available in the report "The State of Garbage in America" published in BioCycle magazine.

More Than $1 Million in Grants Awarded to Strengthen Ohio's Scrap Tire Recycling Efforts

Columbus, OH --- Almost $1.5 million in grants were awarded to businesses, schools and communities across the state. The organizations receiving grants have proposed converting manufacturing operations to accept scrap tire material, expand tire processing, use scrap tire material in civil engineering projects or develop recycling related technology for scrap tire material.
