Toyota and Lexus Vehicles Certified for New Energy Tax Credit

Washington --- Two 2007 vehicles now qualify for the hybrid tax credit that went into effect in January. The Toyota Camry Hybrid and Lexus GS 450h qualify for a $2,600 and $1,550 credit respectively. Buyers are encouraged to make their purchases sooner since the full credit is available for only a limited number of hybrids. Full Article

There's Still Time for Tax Savings

San Francisco -- The new hybrid tax credit that went into effect on January 1, offers taxpayers up to a $3,400 deduction. The credit is phased out once a manufacturer sells more than 60,000 hybrids. Through March 31, Toyota, the most popular hybrid manufacturer, had sold 35,754 vehicles. Full Article

When Buying Organic Pays (and Doesn't)

Apples, celery, cherries, imported grapes, nectarines, peaches, pears, potatoes, red raspberries, spinach, and strawberries carry higher levels of pesticide residues than other fruits and vegetables, making it advantageous for consumers to buy organic. Other foods such as asparagus, bananas, broccoli, mangos, onions, seafood, and pre-packaged products usually have fewer contaminants and the organic version may not be worth the additional expense.

Calif. Energy Regulators OK Solar Program

San Francisco --- To increase the use of solar power within the state, California regulators approved over $3 billion in customer rebates over the next ten years. The rebates are available for homeowners, businesses, and public buildings and the rebates decrease over the ten year period - so it's best to act soon. Full Article

Travelers Offers Hybrid Car Owners 10 Pct Discount
